Argyle too much for Wilmer-Hutchins boys, 48-34

Argyle 48, Wilmer-Hutchins 34: At Texas A&M-Commerce, Connor York was 11-for-11 at the free throw line and scored 18 points, and North Texas signee Clarke Overlander had nine points and 10 rebounds as Argyle won the Class 3A Region II final.

“It hurt last year. I thought we were the better team, but it didn’t pan out,” said Argyle coach John King, whose team lost to A. Maceo Smith in last year’s regional final. “But the team this year came together at the right time. I couldn’t be prouder of these young men.”

Andrew Resch had eight rebounds, and Spencer McCloud had seven points for Argyle (31-8), which will make its first trip to the state tournament since a 2A runner-up finish in 2004. Argyle hit 3-pointers for its first five baskets to quickly take control, going up 20-10 at halftime.
