Rockwall-Heath rallies in seventh inning to complete comeback, sweep Allen

ROCKWALL — A two-out, walk-off single by senior Trey Millender capped a two-run seventh-inning rally to give Rockwall-Heath a 3-2 victory over Allen to sweep the best-of-3 Class 5A Region II quarterfinal series.

“I can’t believe doing that,” Millender said. “I can’t believe that happened. I had a chance for a game-winning hit like that against Rockwall, and I didn’t get it. I didn’t want that to happen again.”

Courtesy runner Mark Bielski stole second with two outs to set up Millender’s game-winning RBI before an enthusiastic home crowd of approximately 1,000 spectators.

Junior Tyler Pinkston had tied the score, 2-2, with an RBI single after an error let leadoff hitter Clayton Rasbeary reach base. Pinkston pitched a complete-game four-hitter in a Game 1 victory.

Allen senior left-hander Troy Chezem stymied Heath through the first six innings. The Oklahoma signee allowed only two hits but both scored runs. Dylan Brown tied the score, 1-1, with Heath’s first hit in the fourth inning to score shortstop R.J. Williams who had walked.

Allen led 1-0 in the top of the fourth on Chezem’s RBI single to score Cole Carter, who had led off with a single. Allen took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh afer a walk, an error and a single by Tyler Carter.

Texas A&M commit Tyler Ivey struck out seven and gave up only six hits.

“Tyler kept us in this game,” Millender said. “We couldn’t let him get the loss. We had to clutch-up for him.”
