Mansfield edges Midlothian for 7-5A lead: Reid Petty drove in two runs and allowed just one run and two hits in four innings as the Mansfield baseball team gained sole possession of first place in District 7-5A with a 2-1 win over Midlothian, the area's seventh-ranked 5A team.
Mansfield (20-5, 8-1) moved one game ahead of Midlothian (20-4, 7-2) in 7-5A. Mansfield swept the teams’ two district matchups.
Mansfield took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by Petty, but Midlothian tied it with a run in the fourth. Petty broke the tie when he drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk in the fifth to give Mansfield a 2-1 lead.
