Flower Mound baseball coach Marte Amrine, Marcus baseball coach Dustin Sykora leaving respective schools

Flower Mound baseball coach Marte Amrine Jr. and Flower Mound Marcus baseball coach Dustin Sykora are both leaving the historically strong programs according to Lewisville ISD athletic director Randy Mayes. Amrine has left to become an assistant at Class 2A power Brock, which is near Amrine’s hometown. Sykora’s plans are undetermined.

Amrine, who graduated from Aledo, has been head coach at Flower Mound the last three seasons. Flower Mound qualified for the state playoffs each season and reached the Class 5A Region I quarterfinals before losing to Southlake Carroll.

“My grandfather lived in the Brock area for his entire life as a cattle rancher and I grew up out there,” Amrine said. “My youngest son is named Brock after the town and my wife and I have always wanted to move out there and live a slow life…I loved coaching at Flower Mound and it will always have a special place in my heart.”

In two years under Sykora, Marcus qualified for the playoffs this season in District 8-5A before being eliminated in the first round.
