Girls basketball player of the week (2/27): Mansfield Summit's Ashley Eli

GIRLS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: MANSFIELD SUMMIT'S ASHLEY ELI

What she did: Eli was instrumental in a comeback win Feb. 21 against Arlington Seguin, playing the role of scorer and ball-stopping defender. In the 4A Region I tournament, she was named tournament MVP — helping Summit back to the state tournament for the first time since 2009.

Who she is: A 5-9 forward

The stats: Eli scored a team-high 15 points in a 4-OT win over Canyon in the regional semis, then had 25 points and seven rebounds in the final vs. Clint Horizon.
