Defensive player of the week (11/7): Kameron Miles, West Mesquite
What he did: In a 16-10 victory over Forney that clinched a playoff berth, Miles intercepted a pass at West Mesquite’s 15-yard line just before halftime and then stopped Forney’s final possession with an interception at midfield.
Who he is: A 6-2, 205-pound strong safety.
The stats: He had 13 tackles, 2 interceptions and 2 passes broken up.
He said it: “I like moving around. I started out the season at free safety but then moved to strong safety. I play on offense about 25 percent of the time. I like defense. I’d rather hit than get hit.”
Coach said it: “I’m a big fan of his. He’s a tough kid and a great team player. He’s a real leader. He makes sure everybody’s lined up in their secondary spots.” _ West Mesquite coach Mike Overton
