2013 Dallas-area boys basketball coach, newcomer of the year: Madison's Mobley notches 2nd title; Plano West's Hogg shined as a sophomore

DAMIEN MOBLEY Madison

Mobley took his first boys head coaching job at Madison in 2007 and hit the ground running. In six seasons, he holds a 151-36 record, with state titles in 2009 and 2013. Madison dominated state power Houston Yates, 85-72, in the 3A final this season.

Did you know? Mobley played at Prairie View A&M for two seasons under coach Elwood Plummer, who was inducted into the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

D.J. HOGG Plano West, So., F, 6-7

Stats: Averaged 16.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.8 steals for Plano West, which won 19 games and made the playoffs for the sixth straight season.

Did you know? His coach, Anthony Morgan, said Hogg drew comparisons to Kevin Durant for his quick release, long arms and effortless shot. Hogg has offers from Texas A&M, TCU and SMU and heavy interest from other Big 12 programs, including Texas.
