See the 2012 Girls Basketball All-Area first, second and third teams

FIRST TEAM

EMPRESS DAVENPORT, Duncanville, Sr., G, 5-7

Stats: Averaged 12.8 points, 3.7 assists, 2.4 steals, and 4.4 rebounds. Davenport, the District 5-5A MVP, was also one of Duncanville's best defenders.

Did you know? The Texas-bound Davenport was comfortable on her future home court in the UIL state championships at Texas' Erwin Center. She was named the Class 5A tournament MVP after Duncanville won the title.

ASHLEY ELI, Mansfield Summit; Sr., F, 5-11

Stats: Averaged 12.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.9 assists. The North Carolina State-bound Eli shot 44 percent from the field, helping Mansfield Summit to the Class 4A title.

Did you know? Eli scored a team-high 15 points, adding nine rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 57-55 four-overtime win over defending 4A champion Canyon in the Region I semifinal.

MORIAH JEFFERSON, THESA, Sr., G, 5-7

Stats: 18.3 points, 5.5 steals, 3.9 assists, and 4.1 rebounds. The Connecticut- bound Jefferson shot 46 percent from the three-point line.

Did you know? Ranked No. 2 in the nation by HoopGurlz, Jefferson is the only player on SportsDay's teams with games still remaining. She plays in the National Christian HomeSchool Championships, Mar.19-24 in Springfield, Mo.

JORDAN JONES, DeSoto, Sr., G, 5-7

Stats: Averaged 14.0 points, 6.6 assists, 6.1 steals, and 3.4 rebounds. Jones, a Texas A&M signee, helped DeSoto to back-to-back 34-5 seasons.

Did you know? Considered the No. 14 recruit in the nation by HoopGurlz, Jones is the older sister of Matt Jones, a Duke pledge in the Class of 2013.

ALYSSA LANG, Rockwall, Sr., P, 6-1

Stats: Averaged 16.2 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1.7 steals. Lang, the District 10-4A MVP, shot 46.4 percent from the field.

Did you know? En route to the Class 4A final, Lang — a Rice signee — helped Rockwall upset previously unbeaten Lincoln in the regional quarterfinal, avoiding a third-round playoff defeat for the third straight season.
