Softball rankings (4/11): Flower Mound Marcus becomes new District 6-6A frontrunner

The area’s top 6A and 5A/other teams are starting to distance themselves deep into district play.

District competition is continuing to intensify in some of the Dallas area’s most competitive races. That was on full display Wednesday night when Flower Mound Marcus and Plano West required 12 innings to decide their contest.

Marcus walked away with a 5-4 win in extra innings after Karli Burgess hit a walk-off RBI single up the third-base line, allowing her team to take over first place in District 6-6A and pass Plano West in the area’s 6A rankings.

The top five teams in Class 6A are starting to distance themselves from the competition, as are the top seven in Class 5A/others.

Forney still remains the Dallas area’s top team with just one loss on the year.
