Dallas-area baseball rankings (4/17): Argyle, Mansfield on the rise as playoffs near

Plenty of movement across both classes as postseason play approaches.

Both the Class 6A and Class 5A/Others rankings saw a good bit of movement this week.

Argyle moved up in the Class 5A/Others rankings after a big 5-1 win over Grapevine, the No. 1 team in the state, on Tuesday. That win moved Argyle into a tie for first place in District 7-5A. With playoffs starting soon, several teams are wrapping up district play in the next couple of weeks.

In the Class 6A rankings, Mansfield’s standing improved following three straight wins that included a victory over state-ranked Waxahachie last Friday.

Flower Mound still tops Class 6A, but Prestonwood Christian has claimed the top spot in Class 5A/Others. Prestonwood Christian has only lost one game this season.
