Storyline to watch
The Nuggets will get a taste of how the other half lives. Usually, teams travel from the West Coast, lose an hour and then play at Denver on a back-to-back. This time, the Nuggets played in Denver against San Antonio on Friday and traveled to Dallas, losing an hour, to play the Mavericks. Keep an eye on their energy level.
Matchup to watch
Local product Emmanuel Mudiay has been a turnover machine early in his career, averaging 4.2 per game, but his talent has been unmistakable. He's averaging 12.5 points and 6.3 assists. He's one of the few guards in the league who has a legitimate size advantage over Deron Williams.
Scouting the Nuggets
They have had real problems defensively, giving up more than 105 points per game and allowing opponents to shoot better than 46 percent, both in the bottom third of the league ... Danilo Gallinari leads them at 18 points per game, but is shooting less than 39 percent from the field.
Scouting the Mavericks
Dirk Nowitzki should be fired up to see the Nuggets. Last season he averaged 25 points, 9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and a steal per game against them last season ... Zaza Pachulia had a streak of four straight double-doubles stopped Wednesday, when he had no rebounds in 20 minutes at San Antonio.
