Sturm: This Cowboys receiver will benefit most from Tony Romo's return

Special contributor Bob Sturm answered questions in a chat Thursday. Here are some highlights.

Question: Do you think Dez is still hurt?

Bob Sturm: I imagine that is very much a work in progress and he is slowly returning to full health. He clearly rushed back as some in the media had his return slated for December. He beat that by a mile and therefore was surely back early. But, there is no doubt he is still a great player at less than 100%. But, each week, you would think that would improve. I doubt Dez will disappoint again anytime soon after Sundays weak effort by his standards.

Question: Which Cowboys receiver do you expect to benefit the most from Romo's return?

Cowboys

Or with:

Bob Sturm: Cole Beasley. They literally used him 1 game in the last 4 and in that 1 game he was borderline dominant. But, as you know, the real and correct answer is everybody benefits with his return. Actually, the biggest beneficiary might be the running game as Romo's aptitude to get them in the right play is very underrated.

Question: What should we Cowboys fans be most worried about Sunday, other than Suh crunching Romo?

Bob Sturm: Well, the chance to play the Dolphins without Cameron Wake is a big plus. He is a beast for sure and is missed. Suh is the game wrecker for sure and although we can question that contract, he surely has stepped right in and been dominant at times. He is a handful. Otherwise, the personnel on offense and defense is both of a decent but not elite level in many spots. Their secondary can be solid, but they have been lit up a lot and, of course, were responsible for a fired coach already.

Question: What do we make of the Dolphins' defense? How would you rate them?

Bob Sturm: Much better with Wake, but that front can be strong. The name that might be under the radar around here could be Olivier Vernon as an edge rusher. He is a real handful. Brent Grimes is also very good as a corner and they have a safety I like, Georgia's Reshad Jones. The defense certainly loves to create chaos but, like I said earlier, they are fragile mentally as a unit, which happens when Buffalo hangs 74 points on you in 2 games.

Question: did jerry rush into giving crawford an extension after one solid year?

Bob Sturm: I think Tyrone Crawford is a very solid and explosive player who has done enough solid things that you would not want to lose him in free agency. His contract seems big, but the guys who get to free agency at his position, age, and quality level are getting real big bucks. The Cowboys didn't want to lose Crawford so they paid him a premium to lock him up early. I wanted to see more this year - no doubt about that - but I still like having him as part of the future moving forward, especially if you consider that it is quite unclear where Greg Hardy will be next season.
