What is an L1 compression fracture? A closer look at Tony Romo's back injury

An MRI revealed that Tony Romo fractured a vertebra in his lower back during the team's preseason loss to Seattle on Thursday. Sources said the quarterback suffered an L1 compression fracture that will keep him out for anywhere from six to 10 weeks but will not require surgery.
