That's not what the Dallas Cowboys were hoping to see.

On the first series against the Seattle Seahawks, quarterback Tony Romo appeared to hurt his back.

According to the TV broadcast, Romo said he just tweaked his back. It was tight. He twisted it. He pulled it. He pleaded to go back to the game but Jason Garrett said no.

"We don't think it's a serious thing," Garrett told the TV crew at halftime.

Owner Jerry Jones also touched on Romo's injury talking to CBS 11.

"After that little (Tony Romo) scare ... I guess I got my breath," he said. "He's not injured. He was OK on the sidelines.

...

"I was just in shock. I had my mind on, 'Come on, Tony, get up.' Said a few prayers right there."

SportsDay's Rick Gosselin recently wrote that if the Cowboys have Super Bowl aspirations then the Cowboys shouldn't be playing Romo in the preseason.

"I'm not sure what point the Cowboys were trying to make by giving Tony Romo his first preseason action Friday night. The risk was far greater than the reward -- especially against a Miami defense that featured veteran Pro Bowl pass rushers Ndamukong Suh and Mario Williams.

"Romo took 13 snaps over two series against the Dolphins before turning the offense over to Dak Prescott late in the first quarter. He handed the ball off seven times and threw six passes. Even with the best blocking front in the NFL, the ball still came out of Romo's hand quickly. All six of his passes were under three seconds. Romo and his play script weren't going to give Suh and Williams the satisfaction of a pass rush.

"Romo showed he could still throw the short and intermediate passes. There were two square-ins to tight end Jason Witten and a square-out and crossing route to Dez Bryant. Romo threw a bubble screen to Cole Beasley and a flare to Alfred Morris in the flat. For the night, he was 4 of 5 for 49 yards -- as if any such August stats matter.

"Romo is 36. He's been starting quarterback around here for 10 seasons. He can throw those particular passes -- and complete those passes -- in his sleep. We've already heard GM Jerry Jones and coach Jason Garrett rave about what a great camp Romo has had this summer. I'm not sure we learned anything more about his health or his game from this cameo against the Dolphins.

"So what's the point?"
