Office opening: Cowboys prepare for first day of work at The Star

The Cowboys return to work Sunday in a facility most of them have never seen.

The next chapter in the franchise's rich history unfolds Sunday when the players report to The Star for their first day of work. After a morning to become acquainted with their new home, the players will practice in the Ford Center _ practice is not open to the public _ before an afternoon ribbon cutting to officially open the complex.

Jason Garrett knows what his players are about to experience. The Cowboys head coach and the rest of his staff spent three days settling into their new offices before departing for training camp.

The move comes 31 years after the franchise established Valley Ranch as its headquarters.

"We are just excited about it,'' Garrett said. "Valley Ranch was such a great facility for the Cowboys franchise for so many years. We had such great memories of that place. You think about the great teams, the great coaches and the great players who worked there. It was special and a privilege to be there.

"But everyone is excited about The Star. It's a great place. The Jones' (family) have done an amazing job constructing it. We as coaches and I know our players are just excited to get back to work there.
