Best in Texas breakdown (11/23): Despite no first-place votes, TCU's point total greater than it was last poll

Strange but true: TCU actually received more points this week (121) than last week (120) even though the Horned Frogs had two first-place votes a week ago. Houston's first loss of the season helped cement the Frogs as the second best team in the state, according to the voters.

Here's a closer look at this week's poll -- for full commentary, check out the main Best in Texas post. Make sure to look at the full poll with comments from the college bloggers before delving into the Best in Texas breakdown, which is presented below:

(How the poll works: A first-place vote is worth 12 points, second-place is worth 11 and so on. First-place votes are placed in parentheses next to a school's point total.)

Biggest margin: Texas and UTEP. There are clearly two different tiers among the 12 Texas teams in the poll. The tiers are divided by the Longhorns and the Miners where there is a 23-point difference. The biggest gap between teams in the top six is between TCU and Texas A&M (13 points) while the biggest difference between teams in the bottom six is between Rice, Texas State and North Texas at 14 points a piece.

Smallest margin: UTEP, UTSA and SMU. All three teams are separated by two-point splits. Of the three, UTSA is the biggest riser seeing a 13-point increase from their ranking a week ago. The Roadrunners topped Rice this week with a 34-24 win.

Teams everybody agrees on: Texas. The Longhorns, a team that had a bye week, were the unanimous No. 6 team on every voter's ballot.

Team nobody agrees on: Teams 7-10. After the Longhorns, the seven through 10 spots are chaotic. None of the 11 ballots have the same four teams in the same order in the 7-10 spots.

Biggest riser: UTSA. The Roadrunners' 10-point win against Rice vaulted UTSA up two spots in this week's poll. It's also worth noting that Texas A&M overtook Houston after the Cougars' first loss of the season.

Biggest faller: Rice. The Owls have played four teams in the Best in Texas poll this year. Their only win came against North Texas back in September. The Owls have lost to Texas, UTEP and UTSA by a combined 27 points.
