Baylor's Johnathan Motley wins Karl Malone Award as nation's best power forward

Baylor power forward Johnathan Motley was named the Karl Malone Award winner as the nation's top power forward Friday night.

A second-team All-American, Motley beat the first-team power forward Caleb Swanigan for the Malone Award.

Motley, a unanimous All-Big 12 selection as a junior, averaged 17.3 points and 9.9 rebounds this past season. He tore his meniscus in Baylor's Sweet Sixteen loss to South Carolina but finished the game through the injury. He had surgery to repair the injury and will be out 4-6 weeks.

Motley has not yet announced a decision as to whether or not he will enter the NBA draft. He is projected as a late first-round pick or early second rounder.
