Baylor QB Russell cleared to play vs. TCU after being in concussion protocol

Baylor quarterback Seth Russell will be under center when the Bears face the TCU Horned Frogs this Saturday.

According to a report in the Waco Tribune Herald, Russell was in concussion protocol following the Bears' 35-34 loss to Texas.

Bears coach Jim Grobe said he didn't think that Russell, who was bothered by nausea and grogginess after the loss to the Horns, suffered a concussion.

"He was maybe dehydrated," Grobe said. "The game lasted like 12 hours."

While Russell will start at QB for Baylor, it's not clear who the Frogs' starter will be, though head coach Gary Patterson said Wednesday that it's likely to be Kenny Hill, who was replaced in TCU's loss to Texas Tech by by backup Foster Sawyer.

"I'd probably say Kenny is right now," Patterson said. "We feel confident that if it's not going where we need to, we'll see both -- and we may see both anyway."
